Let's Talk Music: All Time Low's 'Don't Panic'
Hey duders! From time to time I like to get y'alls opinions of some of the jams that everyone is talking about... so let's talk music.
All Time Low gave us an early treat yesterday when they put a full stream of their new album Don’t Panic on YouTube. There has been a lot of hype around this album from different music sites saying it was their best yet. There has also been a lot of hype from the four boys from Baltimore who felt like they had a lot to prove this time around.
This album was written (almost) entirely by All Time Low with the lyrics and melodies coming from front man Alex Gaskarth’s brain/heart. The only exception is the one co-write with ex Fall Out Boy front man Patrick Stump.
The album was born after the band separated with their major label Interscope and before they had signed with their original indie label Hopeless Records. With that freedom, ATL was able to trust their instincts and go with their gut. Without an idea of where this record would end up, these four tenacious boys didn’t panic – they just kept working.
I especially like the angsty “To Live and Let Go”, “Outlines”(featuring Jason Vena’s backing vocals, originally meant for Patrick Stump), “Backset Serenade” (with Cassadee Pope) and the hometown anthem ”For Baltimore”.
Don’t Panic tells a story that is poignantly, cohesive and makes me want to jump around. What more could I ask for from a pop-punk album?
Well done boys, this is in fact your best album yet.
But you tell me! Take a listen and let me know if you want to turn it UP or turn it DOWN!
