I had a similar situation with Green Day's Dookie at school a few years later.

Anyway, since those days Wayne's World and it's sequel have been favorites of mine. I constantly display my excitement by saying "ZANG!" and have my very own WW hat. Today the man behind Wayne Campbell, the hilarious Mike Myers turns 49, so here are a few gifs to get the party started.

We had them answer the same questions from way back when and had them guess what their responses were in 2008. Let's just say it was so funny we had to cut it into two pieces. #musicrules.

Today I got to sing along with Anthony Raneri of Bayside, Chris Conley of Save The Day, Will Pugh of Cartel and countless others. 

Some standouts of the day were Bayside and Reneri’s amazingly raspy and soulful voice. Bayside is truly one of my favorite bands to see live and the crowed was a continuous stream of crowd surfers. Saves The Day (a band I have been a fan of since I was teen, but only saw live one other time) played a set the fans voted for – and we did a good job. STD played a few of my favorite songs including “Firefly”, “This Is Not An Exit” and "Throught Being Cool." They even played a new song “Ring Pop” that will be on their upcoming 8th LP. It was fantastic to say the least. 

On a whim I caught Breathe Carolina and it was VERY impressive. They were assigned one of the smaller stages and proved they had earned the right to play the main stage. I am not a huge Breathe Carolina fan but live they are kind of killer. They had one of the most rowdy and engaged crowds I saw all weekend, and those boys love to interact with their fans. 

I ended the day watching Cartel playing some tunes that were old and new. Cartel just but out a new record, Collider a few months back and it was great to hear two of those new songs live. The band looked like they were having a blast and Pugh’s voice was very strong live.

All-in-all I had a lovely time in the rain going from stage to stage with Sam as she took some incredible photos. So until the next music festival, #musicrules. 

Who would you want to see at Skate And Surf?

Skate And Surf day one delivered up a light mist of steady rain the entire day, but each act still took the stage and gave some memorable performances. The enthusiasm from the crowds made it possible for bands like Boston natives Transit, to make it thought their set. They had an especially rowdy crowd that sang back each word, crowd surfed and made the best of the at times dangerous situation. That’s what makes a live show, how passionate the interaction between musician and fan can become when they meet face to face. Sure the rain added a bit of annoyance to the day, but once the bands took the stage it made for an almost epic and almost cinematic experience.

During Lights’ performance her drummer’s kit had pools of water on the drum heads and as he feverously kept time, the water sprang up creating a cool effect like you see at a Blue Man Group show. Not sure how safe it was to have some of my favorite musicians up there with wet equipment, but they all stuck it out. I was most concerned that Fall Out Boy’s headlining title would be taken away if the rain got worse, but thankfully FOB came out and played to almost everyone who had come to the festival. About 30 minutes before the set time, EVERYONE ran to the main stage in anticipation of FOB’s arrival. 

Fall Out Boy’s set was exciting because they played a few new songs off their album Save Rock And Roll including “The Phoenix” and “Alone Together” – but also the FOB classics like “Grand Theft Autumn” and “Sugar We’re Going Down.” It was exciting to see some of the new songs and hear Patrick Stump’s incredibly soulful voice echo across the parking lot in the dark rain. 

So sure it rained, and we were in a parking lot, and the set times were running late-- but the bands still brought the festival to life. Like I mentioned before, a show is only as good as the connect that’s established between the fans and the artist and that element was present. Skate And Surf has the heart. #musicrules.

Last year tons of fans came to see Falling In Reverse headlined Warped Tour and in 2011 their debut album, The Drug In You Is Me, charted at #19 on the US Billboard 200. Pretty impressive. I have given this band as much attention as I can, listening to old and new music, to try to understand why you all like them; but I’m still at a loss. So now I turn to you, my music loving community of Buzznet for some help.

I was very hesitant to write a “Tell Me Why” for Falling In Reverse because I know they have a very passionate fan base. However, maybe that loyal fan base can help me out and explain why they are so devoted. 

Because honestly, Falling In Reverse; I don’t get it.

I can tell from the new music video Falling In Reverse posted yesterday fans are curious about their new sound and decision to incorporate hip-hop influences in their new music. For me, either way I am having a hard time seeing the attraction to the music old and new. I am confused as to why so many young fans – female fans, are drawn to it. To me it seems very aggressive in a way I can’t relate to and as a woman it’s offensive.

I know using sex isn’t a new idea in music, but I haven’t noticed any other bands with such vulgar content in their music being celebrated here on Buzznet. Perhaps I am having a hard time because I can usually get a grasp on why our community loves a band so much. I can typically find common ground and “get on your level” – but with this band I am at a loss. So I honestly need your help.

So help me. Maybe I am looking (and listening) at all of this in the wrong way. You’re all tuned into what is cool and why you love the music you love. So, tell me why I should like Falling In Reverse.
